An assisted child represents an individual who fundamentally lacks adequate physical, psychological, and emotional care essential for healthy development. Assisted childhood encompasses the category of children systematically deprived of family environments due to various circumstances including abandonment, parental death, family disintegration, or illegitimate birth. Islamic jurisprudence considers childhood a supreme blessing, an invaluable treasure, and a societal wealth requiring comprehensive protection and nurturing. To safeguard these vulnerable children from experiencing profound psychological trauma, social alienation, and potential exploitation, the Algerian state has implemented extensive legal and institutional measures. This comprehensive study examines the multifaceted role of assisted childhood institutions in Algeria, analyzing their legal foundations, operational frameworks, educational systems, and therapeutic interventions. The research investigates how these institutions function as alternative family environments, providing integrated care encompassing psychological support, social services, health provisions, educational opportunities, and vocational training. Furthermore, this study critically evaluates both the advantages and limitations of institutional care, exploring challenges related to social stigmatization, resource allocation, and long-term integration outcomes for children of unknown parentage within the Algerian sociocultural context.
